Tripolis has played a significant role in the country’s national history, as it was one of the greater poles of resistance during the national revolution of 1821. One of its basic coordinators is T. Kolokotronis, the honored figure of the statue placed in the main square of the city.

Nowadays the city hasn’t lost its importance, due to its geographical position, its strong cultural character and its exquisite landscapes. Goal of this new pedestal proposal is to balance the statue’s scale with the large square, to cause new stimuli for the users, regarding the history and landscape of the region, and to renew the site’s character by introducing contemporary materials and design approaches to the somewhat outdated context.
