Colour as urban space

In a time not so long away from now, the
cities of our world could have a million
different colours, all at the same moment. Their image could be defined by, and
adjusted to what each and every citizen
or guest desires.
Two things will be
neseccary towards that accomplishment.
One is about the city. All built elements
could be covered by a special substance
similar to paint, transparent, or with a
really neutral hue. This non-colour would
be soothing for the eyes of the person
looking at it. Its most important quality
though, could be the ability to transform
into whatever colour tone or hue people
want.
The other is about the people. Special
glasses, contact lenses or other devices
could allow people to experience the
city in their own unique way. Through
these gadgets the paint on the urban
surfaces could be translated into colour,
with multiple modes or combinations.
Several buttons could provide ideal
colour settings for daylight, night, rainy
wather or any other circumstance, even
the user’s own mood or desired effect.
This is the definition of an everchanging
state in the buildings’ life, a non-defined
refurbishment process, the ultimate
democratic approach for the image of
the city and the factors that influence it.
